Main attractions of Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro – is one of the largest cities in Brazil, a giant metropolis, filled with bright colors and a real Brazilian flavor. Rio is considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations in South America – stunning views, unique historical monuments, spectacular carnivals and exciting excursions are waiting for travelers. I chose a couple of attractions that anyone should to see!

Sambodromo
One of the main symbols of Rio de Janeiro it’s definitely large-scale wonderful carnivals, held on the unique street – Sambodromo. Long wide road passes directly in the heart of Rio and represents a kind of stadium, but elongated one – on both sides of the street there are towering grandstands and VIP-couches, which can be accessed during a performance or rehearsal of dancers. Many events are held on the Sambodromo, but the main performance of the year begins in late winter, on the annual carnival, when thousands of participants unite in a one collective dance, flashing with bright costumes and decorations.best-costumes-at-rio-de-janeiro-carnival-mydesignweek

Cristo Redentor
The most famous tourist attraction of not only Rio, but all over the country is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, located on the top of Corcovado Mount. Sculpture reaches 40 meters in height and still accessible for a gaze from any point of the valley – so majestic statue of Christ is. It looks like Savior embraces the city with his loving hands, bless it and save.1467015247

Serra dos Órgãos
You can relax a soul and rest from the city noise in a stunning park, one of the best in Brazil – Serra dos Órgãos National Park. Located in two hours from Rio de Janeiro, the park represents wonderful green corner, on the vast territory of which you can find lush gardens, picturesque alleys, green hills, rivers and lakes. The time flows slowly here and peace is felt fully. An ideal place for carefree relaxation.1024px-amanhecer_na_serra_dos_c393rgc3a3os
